Classes

My teaching style is inspiring and motivating. Different styles of yoga work for different people for various reasons and that is why Yoga truly means union, it is accessible for all. Modifications and variations are always given to encourage students to try new classes and explore the practice more.

Description of classes that I offer are below.

Yin

A style of yoga that involves long holds in various seated and reclined poses. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body. There are three tenets of Yin Yoga: find your edge where you can feel the stretch but without straining; remain still; and allow yourself to stay here for time, typically three to five minutes. Props such as blocks, bolsters, blankets, straps and even an eye mask are most welcome and recommended.

Mandala

Mandala Vinyasa yoga, is a practice that works towards a firm intention and established on the four elements that bring connection between you and each of the Elements in the Universe – Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Each of these elements have their corresponding Chakra and group of muscles. During a Mandala Vinyasa class, you will be integrating the spiral patterns of nature, as there is never perfection nor straight lines in nature. You’ll explore circular movements with your body, moving around all four corners of the mat in 360 degrees.

Physically the class is flowing in a slightly slower paced Vinyasa (flow), through different levels of asana (postures), while prioritising the breath to movement and working on a particular target area (element) in the body. As the movements are slower they are linked by the breath in a conscious manner.

Sound

During a Sound healing  class, various specific instruments are used such as gongs, Tibetan and crystal bowls, chimes and bells to create music, tones, and other sonic vibrations to balance and heal the body, mind, and spirit. It involves using specialized sound frequencies to create a therapeutic atmosphere to promote deep rest, nervous system rebalancing, and emotional release. Ideally, a hypnotic, meditative or theta brainwave state is created which allows access to deeper levels of inner wisdom and healing. Blankets, pillows and a eye mask is recommended to deepen the experience.

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is a traditional, highly active and dynamic form of yoga. It demands a high degree of focus and concentration; generates an internal heat that cleanses and purifies; creates a strong, supple body; and brings clarity to the mind.

Flow

Flow Yoga, also known as Vinyasa Yoga, is a dynamic and energetic style of yoga that focuses on the seamless connection between breath and movement. It is a popular form of yoga that offers a refreshing approach to traditional yoga practices.Flow Yoga is characterized by its continuous and fluid movements, transitioning from one pose to another in a graceful and rhythmic manner. Unlike traditional yoga styles that emphasize holding static poses, flow yoga encourages practitioners to engage in a continuous flow of poses, creating a sense of flow and connection.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It’s usually practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. The practice draws our attention inwards, and we learn to flow between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where our body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) – the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.

As we rest here, we can turn our attention easily and effortlessly to the very nature of awareness and consciousness. We start to experience the ‘deeper’ features of yogic teachings that previously we perhaps considered intangible, such as feeling our interconnected wholeness and becoming aware of our true, unified nature – expansive, inclusive, and deeply restful.  Yoga Nidra takes us effortlessly into a state of harmonious, restful being. From here, we can be healed, restored and awakened to our deepest, all-knowing, all-welcoming self.
